Our Team

Richard, our founder, is a visionary who possesses a remarkably well-rounded skill set and an unparalleled ability to execute projects with precision. From the moment you shake hands to the day he hands you the keys, you’ll experience his warm and gracious manner on every phone call and visit to the site. His 25 years of industry experience and exceptional customer care has helped him to create this first class operation for our entire team; we can’t help but be inspired. You’ll find that surpassing expectations is Richard’s hallmark.

Ross has been in the construction industry for over 30 years, first in his family’s lumber, custom millwork and cabinet business, and then with the RBCH team, which he joined in 2013. He graduated from the University of Georgia, served in the US Air Force/GA Air National Guard for 10 years as a C-130 Navigator, and holds a SC Residential Builder license. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Savannah and are active members of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. In his free time, Ross can occasionally be found picking the banjo under the watchful eye of Louie, his faithful basset hound.

After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in construction management, Chris passed the SC General Contractors and Residential Builders tests and has been in the industry for nearly 30 years, most of which with RBCH. He recently passed the National Commercial Contractors exam (NASCLA). Chris was born, raised and currently resides in Savannah. When not acting like a construction nerd, he enjoys everything outdoors from dirt bikes to hunting, fishing, and running.

John is a graduate of Clemson University and joined the RBCH team in 2010. He has over 20 years of experience in residential construction and holds his residential building license. John and his wife live in Beaufort, SC, with his daughters, Kate and Norris. He enjoys hunting, boating, and cutting the grass.

Blake graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a BS in health and physical education. In 2014, he joined the RBCH team and learned, hands-on, the processes of building while going to school at night to learn the basics of construction. Blake’s passion is leading worship at Cross Community Church where he, his wife, Amber, and their two adopted sons, Judson and Thaddeus, attend and serve. In his free time, he enjoys going on fishing with his sons and eating at new restaurants with his wife.

Matt, a graduate of University of Colorado, joined Richard Best Custom Homes in 2018. He has an extensive background in project management and business development within and outside of the construction industry. Matt enjoys running, college football, golf, and spending time with family outside of work.

Davis graduated from Clemson in May of 2020 with a bachelor’s in construction science and management. Before joining RBCH, he had three summer internships with two commercial builders and one home builder. Davis is from a small town, Chapin, SC, right outside of Columbia. He enjoys attending Clemson football games, hunting, and being out on the water.

Tres Grissom, born and raised in the low country, SC, spent 2007-2019 in The United States Air Force working as an Armament Systems Journeyman and a Tactical Systems Operator, both while in support of special operations. Tres earned a BS from American Military University in Disaster Management while on active duty. When returning home from military service, Tres worked as a tradesman in the local area and fell in love with construction. Tres began building homes in Hilton Head in 2022, then joined the RBCH team in 2024. When off the clock, he enjoys hunting, kayaking, hiking, and all things outdoors with his wife, seven kids, and dog.

Wayne is a graduate of the University of Georgia and went into politics for several years with the U.S. Senate before returning to school to get a Master of Education from Georgia State University. When teaching did not turn out to be his calling, he and his wife, Mary Jane, relocated to Savannah to start things afresh. He began working with Richard in 2005. Outside of work, Wayne spends time with his wife and children (sons Will and Andrew). He also enjoys cooking, watching sports, and the occasional trivia competition.

Kimberly is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. After graduating, she moved to the Lowcountry to begin her career in wedding planning. Several years later and after planning her own wedding, she realized she was ready for a new challenge and joined RBCH in 2017. She and her husband welcomed their daughter in 2024 and are embracing this new chapter as a family of three. When she’s not working, she loves boating, making memories at the park with her daughter, and soaking up every moment of being a new mom.

Kate graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Business Management. She began her college career studying interior design before realizing she was more drawn to the business and coordination side of the industry, which eventually led her into residential construction. She joined Richard Best Custom Homes in June 2025. Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, and watching movies.

Sydney graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Interior Design. After completing an internship with RBCH during her final semester, she joined the team full-time in May 2025. In her free time, she enjoys walking through downtown Savannah, where she currently lives, spending time with friends, and trying new restaurants and local spots.

Kelsey graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. She joined the RBCH team in 2025 shortly after completing her degree. Kelsey is a Bluffton native who enjoys spending time outdoors, skiing and boating on the May River. In her free time, she also pursues photography and painting.

Eliza Peterson graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in Finance. In 2024, she joined the RBCH team, where she works closely with homeowners and trade partners throughout the building process, assisting with selections and project coordination. Eliza lives in Bluffton, SC, with her fiancé, Tate. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the lake, being with family and friends, and playing with their dog, Oakley.

David is a graduate of the University of Georgia and has worked in corporate accounting for over 20 years. He and his wife, Brooke, live in Savannah and have two daughters. In his free time, David enjoys boating, fishing, college football, and snow skiing.

Rachel graduated from Hiram College with bachelor’s degrees in Communications and English. She has many years of experience in corporate account management and specializes in developing strong client relationships. A native of the Cleveland, Ohio area, Rachel has lived in Georgia for almost 20 years now and loves living in the south with her husband Clay, three dogs, a cat and chickens. They enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking and RV camping.

Butch has been in the construction industry for nearly 40 years. He worked as a framer and interior trim carpenter for 15 years and at a custom millwork shop for almost 15 years. Outside of work, Butch is a member of Rincon United Methodist Church. His hobbies are kayaking and wood working. He has two older children that he enjoys playing games with and hosting for dinner.

With over 20 years of customer service experience, Natalee is all about creating positive connections with people. Originally from Pittsburgh, she's called Bluffton, South Carolina home since 2001. When she's not working, you'll find her outdoors enjoying nature with her significant other and their two dogs. The Lowcountry lifestyle suits her perfectly—equal parts professional dedication and love for the natural world around her.

Zachary graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Construction Management. He has always had an interest in residential construction, and in Spring 2022 he joined the RBCH team. Throughout his time at Georgia Southern he never missed an Eagle sporting event, and made a lot of great friendships along the way. In his free time he enjoys live music, sitting by the beach, or a 9:30 tee time.

Alex graduated from Georgia Southern University in the spring of 2025 with a degree in Construction Management. Shortly after, he joined Richard Best Custom Homes as an assistant superintendent. He enjoys running, working out, and playing golf in his free time.

Andrew is a graduate of Purdue University, where he studied mechanical engineering, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his MBA. Before joining the team, he worked in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry managing capital projects and supporting facilities and engineering operations. He and his wife live in Bluffton with their two children. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, getting out on the water, and working on projects around the house.
